Meeting: Friday 5th November, 11am. Katie and Erin present.

Discussed what Izzy and Erin had previously - the alternative research methods such as men taking photos of their bathroom cupboards, joining after work drinks and bringing products to try and swap.

Then we decided the areas into which we need to research:

- Competitors
- Consumers:
- 1. Hairdressers
- 2. End consumers
- Products
- Services
- Advertisements/Marketing

Competitors

We have already began doing this, going into salons and speaking to hairdressers therefore we need to continue this. Both Erin and I have said we will visit more salons this weekend and I believe you did this afternoon Izzy. I am also going to go to 2 wholesalers and look at the products they sell aswell as talking to the assistants about which products are most popular with hairdressers etc. I will also try and slyly take photos when i'm there. snort.

Also for competitors we thought we could make a chart comparing what products and services each brand offers.

Erin is going to do a case study on American Cru.

Consumer

We thought it might be quite good to take pictures of men out and about and also celebrity pictures and use them at a focus group so men can say what they like about other mens hair? Just to get them using descriptive words and stuff. Also if we have a polaroid camera we could take pictures of men then get them to write on the back what they think of their own hair?
We also said we want to find out what their hair issues are such as loss and greys. Also to research the consumer we need to buy mens hair mags if there are any and also mens fashion mags. Want to discover how important is their hair in the grand scheme of things?

Hairdressers: Continue to visit salons and ask more hairdressers what ther favourite products are and also what products are popular within their salons. Also may be ask if we could observe some mens hair cuts etc?

This also involves researching the products as we are able to see how the products are used and what men are asking about. Also we want to find out if men would just use their girlfriends or sisters products and why, what do they like about them?

Can we begin to group consumers together by age or some other way? What are each groups main concerns? Balding/thining/greying of hair?

Adverts:
Which adverts influence men the most? Could do a fouc group on this? We should start collecting adverts from magazines and from the internet.

So I've sent our proffessional questionairre to another male hairdresser.

We are meeting on Tuesday at 12, which is when we will arrange when the focus groups will be. I am going to ask Nick if we can do one at KPMG on a week night, what do you think about that izzy? Also on Tuesday we are going to the train station to speak to the commuters and take pictures.

Next meeting: Tuesday 12pm!

xx
