Interview at 'Brik' barber shop.

Here are some notes from the informal interview we did with the two guys that work at Brik, a barbers shop in Nottingham which plays on the traditional aspects of the trade with their own modern twist.

- Not many men get their hair coloured
- Some men get their greys toned down but most men can't wait to be grey (including themselves)
- Their best sellers are a matt finish clay. It is easy to wash out and is by brand American Crue.
- They think that the classic slicked back look may be coming back but don't see it being a massive trend.
- If there was a product that made hair look like it was salon finished it would put them out of business.
- Alot of men are asking for a soft finish when having their hair cut so that it doesn't look like they've just come out of the hairdressers.
- Their customers like products that have attractive but classic packaging.
- A company called 'lock, stock and barrel' brought out mens hair products but had stupid names so customers didn't want to buy them.
- They find that men don't spend money on shampoo, they will often just use shower gel.
- Men will spend most of their hair grooming budget on styling products rather than hygiene products.
